"Rude Removal" is an cartoon segment originally made for the animated television series Dexter's Laboratory. The segment was produced as the 28th episode of the second season or 41st episode overall. It was slated to air on February 21st, 1998, but Cartoon Network never aired the episode because the characters are depicted as using profanity, even though the words are censored with bleeps. Cartoon Network's late night programming block Adult Swim eventually uploaded it on YouTube and to their official website on January 22, 2013, but it was removed shortly afterwards. After being uploaded on YouTube, it gained over 500,000 views within 24 hours. The episode was written by Chong Lee and Craig McCracken, and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.
In the episode, Dexter invents The Rude Removal System, a machine to remove the rudeness from his sister Dee Dee. However, Dee Dee thinks Dexter is the one who is rude, so they start fighting and wander into the machine. Inadvertently, the Rude Removal System is activated, splitting the pair into well-behaved and rude halves. This creates two evil, rude duplicates, who use profanity and harbor destructive tendencies. The evil clones proceed to insult their mother and destroy the house. Dexter and Dee Dee now have to stop their rude halves from causing trouble and consequently being punished by their Mom, who believes the actions of the evil clones were that of her children.
